The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon is a generous wine that shows power yet restrained. On the nose this wine lures one into the glass with potpourri notes overlaid with red currant, black cherry, plum and sweet tobacco. The generosity of this wine extends to the palate with a large array of red and black fruits awakening the tastebuds followed by well integrated secondary notes of clove and vanilla that work in perfect balance with this elegantly layered wine. This is a full wine that benefits largely from the elevated acidity of fresh fruit that tame the strong tannins of the wine never overwhelming the tasting experience.
2018 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
The 2018 vintage started cold and wet with plenty of rain through February that delayed the start of the growing season a bit. Nevertheless, ideal conditions lent themselves for a healthy and fruitful bud break. Summer was nice and even, with no major heat spikes throughout the days, while nighttime was cool and constant. These conditions set the stage for fruit to hang on the vine to fully develop their unique varietal characteristics giving our winemaking team a myriad of great fruit to work with.
